Suzuki GSX-R1000 2009Suzuki has just released the first official picture of the all-new 2009 GSX-R1000.The key change is an all new engine that is 59mm shorter than the outgoing K7/K8 model, allowing a longer swingarm, though the wheelbase is 10mm shorter at 1405mm.

The changes have been made to ‘increase agility and race track performance’ according to Suzuki. Compression is higher according to Suzuki, but Suzuki declined to release further information.

Showa’s Big-Piston forks (as seen on Honda BSB bikes and the new Kawasaki ZX-6R) have fewer internal components and have a lower oil pressure than conventional forks, giving smoother action.

A new shock with high and low-speed compression damping matches the new forks. New Tokico four-piston radial calipers are also used.

Today I did exactly what people have been advising me to do for a long while now, move to Mac.

Initionaly I was totally against the idea and the thought of a Mac would send shivers down my spine. The thought of all that glossy trim and fancy dock the enlarges as you roll over the icons. Are half of Mac users actually blind?

However, as the saying goes “Never judge a book by it’s cover”, I went to the Apple Store in Brent Cross and gave a beautiful Apple MacBook a run for its money. Bloody hell (I can say that, its my blog!) what a cracking little machine, what the hell have I been missing out on?

At the speed of light you can have all of your e-mails, calendar, contacts and the web at the end of your fingertips with no hassle, blue error screens, or buggy site that Microsoft has to offer in its latest creation Vista.

I ended up buying the MacBook, and am seriously thinking about becoming a Mac Mad Guru, shaving a ‘Apple’ logo into the back of my head and calling myself Vince M’acApple.

On a serious level (if that exists), if you are thinking of buying a Mac don’t wait, don’t allow the comfort blanket of Microsoft fool you into feeling safe and secure…I am telling you the Mac blanket feels much softer at the moment.

Will report back after further breaking testing has been carried out! :)

As a website designer I am always asked by my clients how I go about testing their websites on different platforms with different browsers. Many think that I have a number of computers running different OS to enable me to do this. I really do think that some of them are crazy!

All of my website testing is done via a site called Browser Shots. It allows you to select exactly which OS you would like your site tested on, and exactly which browser (even down to the version number)!

Then after submitting the URL, the site will process all of the required screen shots, which are all download-able without any watermarks.

In addition to this you can even play with more settings, such as Screen Size, Javascript, Java & Flash.

So, if you have a site, or want to test any site on the web, give Browser Shots a whirl.

Stare intently at the black dot in the center of this image and watch the grey shadow disappear…

Optical Illusion

This is a static image. It was your own eyes that did that!

Four people in the carriage of a train — an Englishman, a pretty young blonde girl, an ugly old woman and a Frenchman.

It all goes dark when the train goes through a tunnel. In the dark there’s the sound of an almighty slap, and when the train emerges from the tunnel the Frenchman is rubbing his face, and there’s a huge red mark on his cheek.

The old lady thinks ‘I bet that Frenchman fondled the blonde in the dark and she slapped him’

The pretty young blonde thinks ‘ I bet the Frenchman tried to fondle me in the dark, got the old lady by mistake, and she hit him’

The Frenchman thinks ‘I bet that Englishman fondled the blonde in the dark, but the blonde thought it was me and hit me’

The Englishman thinks ‘I hope there’s another tunnel coming up soon so I can slap that French twat again’

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled.

Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.

The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly. Probably wasn’t the same elephant.
